Author Guidelines

Please submit your manuscript as one MS word file.  You can download a sample template for the manuscript / paper by clicking here.

The manuscript should be concise and focused.  The front page shall contain the title of the paper followed by the name, surname and affiliation of each author, a concise Abstract (around 500 words) and five keywords. Please also annotate who is the corresponding author.

The maximum length for all submitted papers is 36 double-spaced manuscript pages including references, figures, tables, and captions.  In exceptional cases, we may allow higher page limitation.  However, we believe that the page limitation helps authors in writing focused manuscript with necessary technical contents.

All text in the manuscript, figures, tables and all illustrations must use a 12-point Times New Roman font.  All illustrations, figures, tables and legends must be placed within the text at the appropriate places, rather than at the end.

Manuscript shall contain Figures and tables embedded in the text with proper captions (e.g. Figure 1. Text text text).  After acceptance, the authors will be required to submit the paper for production with high resolution figures as attachments.

The submitted manuscript shall have the following structure:

  • Title page (includes title, author byline, affiliation(s), and abstract)
  • Introduction
  • Description, Methodology or Proposed Research Approach.  Use sections and subsections to organize (please don't number sections and subsections).
  • Discussions and guidelines for applications
  • Recommendations for future work
  • Conclusions
  • Acknowledgments
  • Supplemental Materials
  • References

All references should have complete information for readers to access it from online platforms, such as Google Scholar, or other literature sources.  Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa).

References for journals and books will follow the following formats. References should be directly cited in the text, for example, as Hong, et al. (2011) for the following paper.

Hong AL, Ubertini F, Betti R. Wind analysis of a suspension bridge: identification and FEM simulation. ASCE Journal of Structural Engineering 2011;137(1):133-142.

Use of Figures / Charts / Graphs:

All figures / charts / graphs (or any material that is work of graphics / art) available online may be copyright.  If you use any such material from online sources, you must make sure that the material in your manuscript is copyright free and is not restricted.  If you want to use restricted / copyrighted material, you will need to get permission from copyright holder to use the material in your publication.  Any graphics / chats created by you using data available from other sources can be used without any copyright concerns.  However, duplicating a graphics / work of art doesn’t relieve you from requesting copyright from the holder.  You can use pictures or photographs available at Wikipedia, Wikimedia or on public websites (such as local, state or federal government websites) without any copyright concerns because they are free from any copyright.
